With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Oralia Elias, beloved mother, grandmother, and woman of unwavering faith, who entered eternal rest on June 15, 2026.
Born in El Salvador, Central America, on May 30, 1944, Oralia came to Washington, D.C. in 1972 with courage, strength, and hope for a better future. Through determination, sacrifice, and faith, she built a life rooted in love, family, and devotion to God.
Oralia worked as a Domestic Housekeeper, serving others with dedication and care. Outside of work, she found happiness in shopping, spending cherished moments with family, and faithfully attending church. Her faith guided her life and carried her through every challenge.
She will be remembered as a woman who was caring, loving, and strong, with a feisty spirit that made her unforgettable. She had tremendous faith and a heart that always put others first. More than anything, she deeply loved her family. Her daughter, Sonia Elias-Cueto, held a special place in her heart, and even in her final days, Oralia continued to lovingly worry over and care for her. That enduring love was one of her greatest gifts.
She also leaves behind her beloved grandson, Iyanu Kuku, along with family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
Although her physical presence is no longer with us, her love, prayers, strength, and example remain. We take comfort in knowing she has found peace and is now resting in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
