I have known and respected Ray since he began his legal career, first as a colleague in the government, and then as a fellow member of the Washington, DC banking law bar. I observed and admired his rapid rise to national prominence in his field. He had a strong moral compass, and was a great source of strength, leadership, and not the least, friendship to his partners and associates.

My condolences to his loving wife Linda and children. He left this earth far too early. With him passes much of the knowledge and wisdom he gained as a leading advisor during the historic rise and fall of one of the nation’s leading industries.

To Ray's family - it is with heartfelt compassion that I lift you all up in prayer, and pray that the Lord will console you in this time of grieving with the hope of Ray's eternal life in heaven where there is no pain, sorrow or tears. And I pray for the repose of Ray's soul, trusting in the Lord's mercy.

To those in Ray's law firm, and others who have worked with him and his clients - Ray was a leader, mentor and friend. Working with Ray over my entire career, I was always impressed with his integrity, fairness, wisdom and commitment. He was a friend to many and respected by all. His passing is a call for all us to embrace the virtues demonstrated by Ray over his career.

To Ray - It is with deep regret that I had not spoken with you in recent months. Thank-you for the joy of working with you on mutual clients over the years. I will miss you.
