

Beloved Uncle, Brother-in-Law, and Friend, Theodore (Ted/Frank) Barstow passed away on May 23, 2017 in Aldie, Virginia. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Robert Timms; his nephews, Robert Timms Jr. and his children, Katie, Bobby, and Stephen; and Michael (and Amber) Timms and their children Zach and Lauren Brown; his niece, Joanne (and Ernie) Chilcotte; and numerous friends.
He was born on April 20, 1931, in Washington D.C. to Francis and Ada Barstow. He was the oldest of three children. He survived both of his parents and his sisters, Joanne and Mary Ellen.
Ted joined the Air Force in 1953 and served his country for five years. He was honorably discharged after his sister passed away, in order to help his family. He attended Southeastern University in Washington D.C. and graduated with a degree in Accounting. He was very proud that he put himself through college. He spent the better part of his career with the United Way organization in Washington D.C.
He loved living in D.C. and was a devoted Redskins, Senators, Nationals, and Wizards fan.
He attended the St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. for several years. He also enjoyed attending the guitar mass at the National Cathedral.
He was a very generous man and will be deeply missed by the countless people whose lives he touched!
Friends and loved ones will be received at Gawler’s Funeral Home in Washington, D.C. on Monday, May 29th from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Gawler's on Tuesday, May 30th at 2:30 p.m. Internment will follow the service at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Maryland.
