Tim had many gifts he shared generously with those who knew him. I had the great good fortune to work with Tim developing a complex web site for a major nonprofit. Tim was patient, thorough, and kind during the years we kept it going. I cherish the time he spent with me. He was a good man, doing good. Knowing him was my privilege.
Sincere condolences to Tim's family and other friends.

It is so hard to grasp the extent of this loss. I have known Tim since he was a boy. I adored him then and adore him now. He became a teacher to my children and friend to me. His marriage to Eser and the spectacular and joyous wedding weekend we shared is engraved in my mind for ever I know his stepmother, Janice Cooper, was as happy as happy can be to see Tim so blessed. She considered Tim her "rock" particularly after the death of her daughter and Tim's half sister, Becky. My deepest sympathy to Eser, Ty and all of Tim's family.

I will always miss Tim's amazing smile. Sometimes I had no idea what he was thinking, but that is what made it so awesome. Tim, thank you for all you did. You will be missed.

This past weekend, Barrie lost our friend and colleague Tim Schaffer. His time with us leaves a lasting legacy on our campus and in the memories of those he worked with and taught. As his colleagues and students, we often heard him begin a sentence with “I wonder…” In remembering Tim, this habit takes on particular poignancy, as it offers a concise glimpse of the man we knew. He had an active, curious mind, one that he was eager to apply to projects as mundane as creating efficient database queries and as exciting as planning new, environmentally friendly buildings. In that sense, he wondered about things that would make Barrie a better place. But he also maintained a sense of wonder in his work, one that could be seen as he explored the wildlife in our campus ponds with our youngest students, or in the magnificent production designs he created with the Theater Tech crew.

At Barrie, one of our core values is “Respect for Self, Others, and the Environment.” Tim not only knew those words as we all do, but he lived them. His absence will leave a gap in our lives, but the time we were fortunate to share with him will live on in our hearts, minds, and on the campus we call home.

Words cannot express the sadness I feel over the loss of Tim. I shall remember most his ready smile whenever I saw him at the Smith Farm. My prayers are with his family at this difficult time.

As a member of the Smith Farm contingency, we all knew Tim as a fellow willing to get down and do the hard chores and projects around the Smith Farm. Such an easygoing fella. Not hard to get to know and like.the guy. He loved Eser very much. He will be missed at our future gatherings!
