Vibeke T. Lofft, age 75, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2016, at a hospital in Washington, DC, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Lofft was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 20 years, John Gordon Lofft, in 1986. Vibeke was a loving mother of Alexander H. Lofft and Christopher T. Lofft, the cherished grandmother of James T. Lofft and Catherine H. Lofft and a dear sister to Flemming Thune-Stephensen. Visitation will be held at Joseph Gawler’s & Sons, Inc., 5130 Wisconsin Avenue, on Thursday, March 24, 2016, from 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. A reception honoring Vibeke will be held at Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Maryland, on Friday, March 25, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Washington National Opera, The Washington Ballet or a local arts organization of the donor's choice.
