WALTER WINSLOW HOLLIS, 91, died on Friday, July 27, 2018, at his home in Springfield, VA. Born in Braintree, MA, he received his B.S. from Northeastern University (Physics and Mathematics) and his M.S. from George Washington University (International Relations). He was an Army veteran who served in World War II. He served for 56 years at the U.S. Department of Defense, including 26 years as Deputy Under Secretary of the Army for Operations Research until his retirement in 2006. Beloved husband of the late Dorcas Ann Hollis (née Menear), he is survived by his four children, Nancy Ann Smith of Abilene, TX; Jeffrey Lee Hollis Sr. of Fresno, CA; David Michael Hollis of Washington, D.C.; and Susan Jane Breisch of Springfield, VA; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Services on August 25 at 11:00 a.m. at All Souls Episcopal Church, 2300 Cathedral Avenue, N.W., in Washington, D.C. Reception immediately following in the Parish Hall. Burial at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
