I served on the Denison Community Development Block Grant Committee with Mr. Lindsay. I found him to be a very intelligent and kind man. He loved people and this city. I feel privileged to have known him and served this community with him. My life is the better for having known retired Colonel William "Bill " Lindsay Jr.

I knew Bill Lindsay as Uncle Bill, and to me, he was the most interesting man in the world. He was knowledgeable about everything we ever talked about, from marching band to history to aviation to football. If you asked him about his achievements, he would be completely honest and forthright, but he never bragged or flaunted his knowledge or experiences. Like anyone lucky enough to spend time with him and call him a friend, I will miss him dearly. Rest In Peace Uncle Bill. And to use the words of John Gillespie Magee, Jr, I hope you have found your wings once more:
“Where never lark or even eagle flew --
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.”

Bill and I served on a Texas state lending institution as board members. He as Secretary and I as Chairman/President of the board. Bill never failed to impress me with his integrity, his careful stewardship of public funds and his unflinching commitment to public service. After our tenure on the board, Bill and I continued a friendship (mostly via telecom) and shared observations of our time in DC during the Nixon Administration. I'll miss him, his wit and his friendship. May the Prophets of our faith welcome him home. Mario Castillo
