It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William Henninger McBeath, Jr., a loving father, husband and respected community leader, who died on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the age of 60.
Wil was born in Lexington, KY on January 27, 1965, to Shirley Nickell McBeath and the late William McBeath, Sr. He became a Cross Country State Champion at Rockville High School (MD) and ran track at the University of Pennsylvania. He continued his education at Rice University, graduating with a Master of Architecture degree.
For many years Wil was the familiar face behind Morgan Gick McBeath & Associates, an architectural firm in Falls Church, VA. He was known for his innate ability to turn business associates into friends. He treated his clients and employees like family. He also served on the Boards of Directors of several Christian faith-based organizations, bringing his business acumen to the business of serving people. Wil was a member of the Cosmos Club of Washington, DC and Kenwood Golf and Country Club.
While his professional work and community engagement were a source of joy and fulfillment, nothing was more important to Wil than his family. Wil delighted in the presence of his children, engaging fully in the activities of their schools: Little Flower, Gonzaga and Georgetown Visitation. Wil modeled the values of respecting all individuals, establishing and achieving personal goals, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his mother Shirley, Wil is survived by his wife Sharon (nee Connelly), a son William and daughters Ella, Madeleine, Mary, and Kerry, a sister Rebecca McBeath and many loving aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill, and sister, Beth.
The family invites all who knew and loved Wil to join in celebrating his life and legacy.
A visitation will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church (5607 Massachusetts Ave, Bethesda, MD 20816) on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 4pm-7pm.
A funeral service will be held at The First Baptist Church of Washington, DC (1328 16th St, NW, Washington, DC 20036) at 11am on Saturday, September 20, 2025, with a reception immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Wil’s name to Little Flower School Angel Fund or The First Baptist Church of Washington, DC.
