Died on Friday, May 5, 2017, in Washington, DC. He was born in Kansas City, MO in 1930. A graduate of Princeton University and Columbia Business School, Mr. Pickering served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. He enjoyed a long career in the financial and the oil and gas industries. He was a member of the Chevy Chase Club and the Metropolitan Club of Washington, and served for many years on the board of directors of the Textile Museum. Mr. Pickering was also a collector of Moroccan rugs and authored a book on the subject. He is survived by his three children, William A. Pickering of Washington, DC, Brooke Pickering-Cole of Stone Ridge, NY and Isabel Anderson of Washington, DC; and a granddaughter, Jane S. Cole. No funeral services will be held.
