

Alicia Caridad Ecay, a beloved matriarch of the Bronx, NY, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024, at the remarkable age of 100. Born on November 8, 1923, in Cuba to the late Manuel Ecay Tovar and Sabina Santo, Alicia's life was a testament to strength, independence, and the power of family.
Alicia cherished her role as a loving aunt to her niece, Tanny Diaz (Pedro), and her nephew, Antonio Merckel (Jovany). She took great joy in the company of her great nieces and nephews, including Anthony, Jazmin, Maile, Vanessa, and Ileana. She was predeceased by her sisters Marta Rodriguez and Angelina, who passed away as a child in 1935.
Alicia lived a life full of grace and vigor. She was a true lover of life, known for her independence and strong will. Her travels were marked by elegance and cultural appreciation, reflecting her refined and classy nature. Family was the cornerstone of her existence, and she made each member feel cherished and valued.
A Funeral Mass will be held in her honor at 11 AM on August 10th, 2024, at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville, NY. Following the service, a private committal will take place.
Alicia’s legacy of love, strength, and sophistication will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
