Born in the Bronx, NY, to Sydelle (Ostrick) Rich and Louis Rich, Allan attended Stuyvesant High School and went on to graduate from Columbia College with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Following in his father's footsteps, Allan took over the family business after Louis's passing, managing two pharmacies in lower Manhattan. Though he remained licensed and passionate about the field of pharmacy, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to real estate finance.
He went on to build a successful career as a commercial mortgage broker, working with esteemed firms including Cooper Horowitz, Pergolis Swartz, and Meridian Capital. Eventually, Allan established his own ventures—first as Sessa Rich and later as Rock Hill Capital LLC.
In 1985, Allan married Denice Zinck. Shortly thereafter in 1989, they were overjoyed with the arrival of their son Zachary. They had an active and vibrant life split between the Upper East Side of Manhattan and Ridgefield, Connecticut. Allan loved entertaining family and friends, traveling, and dancing— even winning a dance contest while on vacation. He was a devoted fan of the Yankees and Knicks and took great pride in coaching his son Zach’s Little League baseball and soccer teams.
Deeply engaged in his community, Allan served on his Upper East Side building’s board of directors and was recognized by local news channel NY1 during his tenure as board president for spearheading the transformation of the building’s fitness center.
In his later years, Allan found peace and joy on Lake Louise Marie in Rock Hill, NY. He enjoyed long walks around the lake with his neighbors and his beloved dog and companion of eight years, Ginger. He was an active member of the board of directors and community, the LLM Country Club, and was a lively participant in their social events.
Allan is survived by his son, Zachary Rich; his niece, Susan (Chas) Rosenblatt-Schumacher; nephew, Muzzy Rosenblatt; brother-in-law, Peter Rosenblatt; grandniece Maddy Rosen; grandnephew Dylan Rosenblatt ; several cousins and second cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Sydelle and Louis Rich, and his beloved sister, Marilyn (Rich) Rosenblatt.
