Cecilia was an orphan at 14 where she had to raise her two younger siblings before she was forced to migrate against her desire to the US, when she was 18 years old to work at a Nursing Home in Ohio. She managed to escape after 1 year and landed in NY. Cecilia lived on and off in NY for 73 years.
She worked at a factory where she was a seamstress for 10 years before she had children and became a stay at home mom to make sure her children were care for. She raised her 4 children alone and excelled.
Mom was a tough mom and made sure we all walked the straight and narrow path and if we didn’t she would let us know the consequences. She loved us something fierce even if she didn’t say it when we were children, but later years she would say “ I love you baby”, all the time. Her children and her great grandchildren she simply adored and they adored her.
In 2021, she got a chance to meet and spend time with her first great great grandson Zamir that she called “my baby”. She liked calling her grandchildren “baby”.
She told us many stories, one we liked most: She didn’t own shoes when she was a little girl, she said she put her little feet in sardine cans and loved hearing the sounds of the peebles on the tin can as she gingerly stepped on them.
She is in Heaven now as she would say she waited a long time to be with her “Jesus”.
Until we meet again my dear mother. We loved you deeply.
