Denis J Curran went into Internal Rest on May 12, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. He was predeceased by his loving parents Michael and Catherine Curran. Denis grew up in Inwood and still held his 213th Street friendships in his heart. Denis was a hard worker and spent 30 years working as an engineer for Kraft foods and Altria. In 1983 he moved his family to Washingtonville and became a vested member of the community. Being involved with many organizations and even helping PAL start the haunting wine cellars at Brotherhood Winery, Halloween was one of his favorite holidays. Denis was a member of the Monell Fire Department for years where he made friendships that he would carry through the rest of his life. Along with volunteering Denis ran the fire prevention program for many years, it brought him great joy to work with all the kids. He served as a member of the zoning board for the Village of Washingtonville. In his last years he became a caring member of the Country Kids Food Pantry, helping to make deliveries to those in need. Denis had a kind and caring heart and always had time to listen to anyone who needed support. He loved to visit all the local stores to check in with people and offer help if they were in need. One of Denis’s greatest joys was his grandchildren, he could always be found on a sidelines or in the stands of his grandkids events no matter where they were. Denis spent 45 years with the love of his life Teddy. The love story of Denis and Teddy will endure through their daughters and grandchildren. Denis’s family was truly everything to him. Denis is survived by his wife Teddy of Washingtonville, NY, his daughter Teri Bonet of New Windsor, NY , his Daughter and Son In-law, Helen and Jason Gannon of Washingtonville, NY, the reason he would always be smiling, his nine grandchildren; Nickolas Gannon, Jason Gannon Catherine Gannon Michael Bonet Andrew Bonet James Gannon Thomas Bonet Joseph Bonet and Gabriel Bonet. Along with his cherished siblings Michael and Kathleen Curran of Irvington NY Vinney and Maura Curran of Tomkins Cove NY and Cathey Sullivan of Congers NY. He was a loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews; and a beloved Grand Uncle to his nieces and nephews, and many loving and caring friends. Denis will be incredibly missed every day by all he knew. His love and memory will continue on though his family and friends. A Huge celebration of life will happen at a later date.
