Edward J McGrath Jr of Rock Tavern, NY, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
He was 87 years old.
In loving memory of Edward J McGrath Jr, a man who touched the lives of many, we celebrate his remarkable journey. Edward was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His legacy lives in the countless hearts he influenced.
Edward was born on May 28, 1936 to the late Edward and Ada (Auryansen) McGrath in Tappan, NY. Edward graduated from Nyack High School in Nyack, NY.
He was married to the late Camille (Ugliarolo) McGrath for 61 wonderful years.
Edward cherished his role as a husband. His love for his wife was steadfast, and their bond was a testament to enduring companionship. As a father, he guided and nurtured his children, imparting wisdom and kindness. His grandchildren found solace in his warm embrace, and his presence brought joy to family gatherings.
Edward’s friendship knew no bounds. He was an uncle and brother who shared laughter, wisdom, and life lessons. His friends were drawn to his genuine spirit, finding comfort in his unwavering loyalty.
Edward served in the United States Army. He was a decorated soldier who demonstrated extraordinary leadership and camaraderie.
Upon completion of his service to country and early in his career, Edward worked in construction as a certified mason. In 2001, Edward retired from Tarkett in Vails Gate, NY after over 30 years of service.
Edward enjoyed summer outings with his family in the Catskills. He and his late wife Camille enjoyed their many summer vacations in Cape Cod as well as the Maine coast. For many summers, Edward tended an impressive vegetable garden consisting of award-winning quality tomatoes, potatoes, corn as well as other delicious favorites.
As he departed this world, he left behind cherished memories and a legacy that will echo through generations. Edward is survived his loving sons, Gary McGrath and his wife Donna of Cle Elum WA, Kenneth McGrath and his husband Alan Spadjinske from North Creek, NY, and Edward J McGrath III from Butler NJ; his cherished grandchildren Keith and his wife Ilsa, Patrick and his wife Becca, Reed, his many nieces and nephews, along with two sisters, Marie DeSimone and the late Ann Van Orden.
Services to honor Edward’s life will be held at David T Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, N. Y. on Saturday 3/30/2024 at 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
