Eugene Louis Racette

Eugene Louis Racette passed away, unexpectedly, on Tuesday June 12, 2012 in his home in Salisbury Mills, NY. He was 74 years young. The son of Ernest and Isabelle (Dubray) Racette, he was born on July 16, 1937 in Clayburgh, NY. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, Gene settled in Rockland County where he met and married Florence (Pat). He was predeceased by his wife Pat, his step-son Francis and his brother Gerald. He is survived by two loving daughters, Lisa Arrant of Salisbury Mills, NY and Sandy, who is married to Eric Schellhorn of Jacksonville, FL; 7 grandchildren, Patricia and Laura Arrant, Adam (Erin) Schellhorn, Daniel Schellhorn and Kate (Todd) Williams, and Tara and Melissa Kearsing; 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia Williams and Wyatt Schellhorn. Gene is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Betty Perry of California, Pat (Macolm) Hathway from New Hampshire, Robert (Alice), Donald (Irene), Kenneth (Kathy) Racette, Geraldine Ryan, and Lucille Johnson, all from Plattsburgh as well as many nieces and nephews. Gene retired from a long and successful career as a scientific technician from Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, formerly Lederle Laboratories, Pearl River, NY. After his retirement, he devoted his time to caring for Pat. He was beloved and adored by his family and friends, and recognized by all who met him as generous, honest and devoted to this family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all. Visitation will be held Friday, June 15 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, Washingtonville, NY. Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, June 16, 10am at St. Mary’s Church, Washingtonville, NY. Burial will immediately follow at 11am in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Washingtonville.
