

Born on September 20, 1941, in Suffern, NY, Gerald was the beloved son of the late Edward and Rose (Flemming) Geelan. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964 aboard the USS Constellation, including service in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War.
In 1974, Gerald made Washingtonville, NY his home, where he built a life centered around family, service, and community. He worked as a machinist at Dexter Press in Pearl River for 20 years and later at The Home Depot in Newburgh. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 1044 and a longtime member of the Monell Engine Company.
Gerald had a deep love of music and was a talented drummer, playing in numerous local bands over the years. A passionate sports fan, he cheered faithfully for the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He was also an avid traveler and spent many years as a dedicated catcher in local softball leagues.
He is survived by his son, Patrick Geelan; sister, Carla McElroy; and sister-in-law, Penny Geelan. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Noreen Geelan, and his brother, Timothy Geelan.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 28th at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville. Cremation will follow. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date at Orange County Veterans Cemetery.
Gerald will be remembered for his unwavering patriotism, musical spirit, and devotion to his family and community. He will be dearly missed.
