Helen E. Barnum

Helen Elizabeth Barnum, 100 years young, entered into rest Monday, May 9, 2022. The daughter of the late Frank Mandzak and Mary Butyok, she was born October 6, 1921 in West Virginia. She left West Virginia at the age of 18 and became a telephone operator in New York. She met her future husband George at a lake house in Beaver Dam Lake. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed oil painting into her nineties. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Helen is survived by her grandchildren, Michael Cohen and his wife Janet and their son Troy of Pine Bush, granddaughters Mish Cohen of New Windsor and Melissa Cohen of Salisbury Mills, daughter Stephanie Colesanti and her husband Tom of Arizona, grandchildren Tommy Colesanti and Sarah Colesanti of California and granddaughter Marjorie Barnum of Arizona. In addition to her husband George, she was predeceased by her son Philip and daughter Judy. Visitation will be private. Church services will be at 10:30am, May 13, 2022 at St. Mary’s Church, Washingtonville, NY with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery
