Irene Lucille Colasanti
May 29, 1924 – January 22, 2019
Irene Colasanti, 94, of New Port Richey, Florida, was reunited on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, with her beloved husband of 65 years, Lou, and other departed loved ones. Irene was born in Portland, Maine, on May 29, 1924, the daughter of the late Lucien and Loveiner Noel. Irene grew up in Portland, attended local schools and graduated from Portland High School. Irene met Lou during her senior year of high school, and the two were married in Norfolk, Virginia in 1943, when he was a private first class in the Marine Corps. Irene worked at Porteous, Mitchell and Braun, Hannaford, Cape Elizabeth High School and On Semiconductor. Lou and Irene resided in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, until 1975, when they moved to Scarborough, Maine. In 1982 they moved to Florida and vacationed during the summer months in Maine. Irene enjoyed many activities, but her favorite activities were spending time with her grandchildren, dancing, playing card games and dominoes and cheering for the University of Michigan football and basketball teams. To her grandchildren, she was their “Merry Sunshine” with her contagious laugh, mirth, and radiant smile. They will also fondly remember her famous American chop suey and sweet tooth. When not volunteering for the Knights of Columbus and other groups, she enjoyed playing bingo. May she rest in peace and return to waltzing with Lou in heaven. Irene is survived by her daughter Eileen Kinnaman of Woodstock, New York, her son Gary of Punta Gorda, Florida, her grandchildren Karen Kinnaman, Michael Kinnaman, Eric Kinnaman and Matthew Colasanti, and great grandchildren Grace and Anne Miller. Her granddaughter Cynthia Colasanti and grandson Jeffrey Colasanti predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her sister Lorraine Dunsmoor and brother Sidney Noel. She will be laid to rest with her husband in the Veterans Administration Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida. Donations may be made in her memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research https://www.michaeljfox.org/get-involved/donation2.php
