

Jimmy was born in the Bronx on July 22, 1934. He was the son of the late James F. Toher Sr. and Pauline (Eichner) Swift. He was married to Jean Mary (Volk) Toher on December 11, 1954.
James served in the US Navy on the Battleship USS New Jersey serving in the Korean War. James was a metal lather in NYC, working mainly for Jacobsen and Co. He was proud to say he was part of building the NYC skyline. Jim was a loyal Red Sox fan, feeling a great admiration for Ted Williams. In his retirement Jim’s greatest joys came from being with his family in the heart of his home cooking, gardening, and some serious card playing.
James is survived by his five children and their loved ones, Patricia Landry, husband Byron Landry, James Toher, wife Patti Toher, Kathy O’Dowd, partner Billy Peck, Chris Toher, wife Susan Toher, and Patrick Toher.
Jim was also a loving grandfather to 8, Byron and Beau Landry, Kayla and Kelly Toher, Colleen and Jimmy O’Dowd, John and Jean Marie Toher. In addition he was blessed with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim had four brothers; he is survived by William Toher and preceded by Patrick Toher, David Toher and George Swift. He will be lovingly remembered by many friends and countless loved ones, those who knew him as Coach Cleats, and so very many who say, “He was like a father to me”.
Visitation will be 2-4p & 7-9pm Thursday at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, NY. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00am Friday at St. Mary’s Church, 42 Goshen Avenue, Washingtonville, NY. Interment to follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY.
