Jeanmarie was born on September 8, 1956 in the Marine Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY to the late James and Jeanne (Burger) Giery. Jean grew up with her brothers Jimmy and Sean and her sister Dawn. As part of a large Irish clan Jean was surrounded by many aunts, uncles and cousins. In October of 1984 she married Neil Spadaro, the love her life and their daughter Olivia was born soon after. Jean and Neil moved to Orange County, NY and welcomed their son Sam.
Jeanmarie was a homemaker in the truest and most meaningful sense- not just someone who kept a house, but someone who created a home. Taking care of her family was what she loved most, and she did it with devotion, pride and so much love. Everyone who walked through her door felt welcomed and cared for. She was extremely house-proud and her home was meticulous and beautiful. Jean had an unparalleled sense of fashion and style; she was the epitome of a clothes-horse!
She is survived by her husband Neil, her daughter Olivia and her husband Junior and her son Sam and his wife Emily. She was ‘Grandma’ to her two beautiful granddaughters, Mae Jean and Audrey Elizbeth. She was predeceased by her parents, and brother Jimmy.
In closing, her family would like to say to our beloved Jeanmarie, one of her favorite quotes (cribbed from her Dad) “Jeanmarie, if we don’t see you through the week - we’ll see you through the window”.
