Joan M. Kennedy

Joan Kennedy went home to be with the Lord on June 20th 2015 following a valiant battle with cancer. Joan was born in Balla, Co Mayo, Ireland on October 5th 1943 to Nora Reilly Kennedy and Michael Kennedy. Joan is survived by her devoted daughter Rose, as well as her sisters Mary Bridges, and Edna Henry of Washingtonville, NY. She is further survived by her brother Jerry Kennedy of Washingtonville, NY, her sister Noreen Kennedy of Valatie, NY, her sister Kate Lohan in Ireland, her brother Patrick and his wife Maureen in England, her sister Christina Kennedy in Australia, her Godson Michael Henry, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Joan was a communicant of St Mary’s Church in Washingtonville, and a member of Catholic Daughters, Court St. Ann, Mother of Mary. She was active in the community, volunteering at the Country Store Thrift Shop, and was a member of the Board of Directors for H.U.B 11 Funding Company. Joan was proud of her Irish Heritage, and made many trips to her native Mayo. Joan was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Bridie and Tess, her brothers John, Mike, Frank, Edward, and Thomas. Visitation will be on Thursday June 25, 2015, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday June 26, 2015, 9:30 a.m. a.m. at St. Mary’s Church with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery both in Washingtonville, NY.
