John M. Powers

John M. Powers of Washingtonville, NY entered into rest on November 1, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY. He was 76. He was born in Yonkers, NY on May 5, 1935 to James and Agnes (Kelly) Powers. John is joining his beloved wife and loving pet, April, in Heaven. He was a member of the American Legion and the Lud-Dale Association in Yonkers, NY. He was an assistant coach with CYO Basketball in Washingtonville and was involved in umpiring and refereeing in Westchester County. John was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his son, Christopher and his wife, Marie Powers of Pembroke Pines, FL; daughters, Mary Beth Walla of Washingtonville and Patricia and her husband, Jean-Michael Akey of White Plains, NY; grandchildren: Kevin Walla, Ryan and Juliana Powers and Travis Lamm as well as many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his loving wife, Agnes Powers and two sisiters, Agnes Kennedy and Kay Luchka. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, Washingtonville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 4, 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville, NY. Cremation is private.
