

Jose A. Santiago, Sr., 65, passed unexpectedly on March 22, 2025. Jose was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a man who touched the hearts of everyone he knew. He was a proud 20 year member of the NYPD, serving most of his years with the prestigious highway patrol unit. After his retirement in 2001, he continued his passion of police service by serving part time in several Orange County police departments. His latest endeavor was as an active 20 plus year member of his hometown department, Washingtonville PD.
Jose grew up in the Bronx and moved to Orange County in 1997, raising his family away from the stress of New York City.
Jose enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. It was evident how much they loved their Papa by the hugs and kisses he would always be showered with.
Hobbies and pastimes for Jose include a fine cigar with a glass of smooth whiskey, a ride in his classic corvette or a group ride with his fellow Harley enthusiast.
He is survived by his loving wife, Blanca, with whom he shared 36 wonderful years of marriage. Jose's legacy continues through his sons, Anthony and his wife Juliana, and Richard and his wife Elizabeth, as well as his stepson, Cesar Vidal. He was a proud grandfather to Antonio, Liliana, Laila, Emilia, Iyana, Juliette, Xavier, and Jaysun, who brought him immense joy and happiness.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, located at 20 North St., Washingtonville, NY. A funeral service will take place on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville, NY. Committal will be private.

Jose will be greatly missed as he had touched so many with his friendship and kind heart.
