Joseph Cannon

Born August 16, 1954 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and June M. (Halpin) Cannon. He was a graduate of Washingtonville High School and Harriman College. A retired social worker and very caring by nature, he worked for many years as a group home aide. He enjoyed sports and was a devoted fan of both the NY Mets and NY Jets. A lifelong and devout Catholic, he was most recently a parishioner at St. Patrick’s RC Church in Newburgh. He was also a past member of the Word of Life prayer group in Washingtonville. Those who knew Joe will remember and miss his caring and loving nature, as well as his thoughtful writings.

Surviving is his loving son Joseph Robert Cannon of New Windsor; sister Laura Cannon of Fishkill; brother Kevin Cannon and his wife Lisa of Pine Bush; former spouse Kimberly (Conway) Cannon of New Windsor; and beloved nephew and nieces Kevin Jr., Rachel, and Rebecca Cannon. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Victoria, and his brother Robert.

Friends may call on Sunday February 21, 2016 between 1:00 and 4:00 PM at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home in Washingtonville, NY. A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016 at St. Mary’s RC Church in Washingtonville at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
