June Mitchell, of Washingtonville, New York, passed away April 23, 2019. She was 78. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, on June 20, 1941 to Rita and Loren Mitchell. While June never had any children of her own, she had a positive influence on the lives of many inner-city children as director of a YMCA day camp program. During her high school years, she worked as a receptionist for two doctors who worked alternately out of the same office. Upon graduation from high school, she worked briefly in the insurance industry until she was hired by the American Automobile Association’s NYC main office. She advanced through the ranks of the organization to become the first woman executive secretary in the history of AAA and served for twenty years before retiring. June had a passion for traveling and visited many areas cities and towns throughout the United States and several foreign countries. Visitation will be on Saturday April 27 4:30 - 8:30 pm at David T Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, NY. Funeral Service will be at 8:30 pm at the funeral home.
