He was born in the Bronx, NY on January 13, 1927 to the late Pasquale and Angelina (Milillo) Amendolagine. His father died when he was eight years old, and he started to work as a butcher at an early age to help his mother support four children. He went on to open his own butcher store, Butcher Boys of Newburgh, NY, where he met his “adopted” son, David Kratochwil. He was a WWII veteran and a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years.
He greatly enjoyed phone calls from his grandchildren and spending time in New Jersey at Seacrest Beach with family and friends. He loved having daily lunches with his son at T&M Deli and dinners there cooked by his friend Joe Martucci. Most of all he enjoyed having macaroni every Sunday with his family, cooked by Geri just the way his wife taught her. His favorite birthday present was always tripe made by his niece Stephanie.
Louis is survived by his beloved sons, Dr. Louis Amendolagine, (wife Dr. Geri Friefeld) and Patrick (wife Patricia) Amendolagine; caring sister, Vee Gilchrist and his loving grandchildren, Louis, Rachel, Laura, Karen, and Nicholas. He was predeceased by his wife Hilda (Spadaccini) on June 13, 2008, his brother Nicholas Amendolagine and sister Nancy Barbaro.
