Marion Grace (Coon) Piester, age 92, of Saugerties, New York, is safely home with Jesus after peacefully entering into His presence on February 11, 2025. She was born in Hudson, NY, on February 26, 1932. Her childhood years were spent in Martindale; she attended Roe-Jan Central School; and attended Cornell University where she majored in Home Economics. After college, she married her brother’s best friend, Kenneth Piester, and moved to the Hermitage Farm in Germantown where they loved raising their three girls. As part of her many years being a happy homemaker, she enjoyed being involved in her girls' lives by teaching them God’s Word, participating in PTA, Girl Scouts, and substitute teaching. Years later, after designing and moving into their ‘little blue house’, Marion continued her love for cooking, baking, tending to her flower gardens, and hosting multiple hospitality parties for family and friends.
As a member of Martindale Community Church, Co-Founder of Clermont Bible Church, and volunteer with Stonecroft Ministries for 42 years, Marion spent countless hours serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and others. Immense joy came from teaching women’s classes in Vacation Bible School, writing and leading women’s Bible Studies, organizing events to mentor/disciple women, and engaging people in conversations about her faith in Christ and their need to have a personal relationship with Him too.
She was preceded in death by Kenneth Piester, her husband of 68 years; father and mother Kenneth and Gretchen Coon; brother Harold Coon; and daughter Susan Belemjian. She is survived by daughters Tricia Piester and Carol (David) Wellendorf; son-in-law Michael Belemjian; grandchildren Paul, Brian, Rebekah, Jessica, Elizabeth, Christine, Christopher, Nathan, and Hannah; 20 great-grandchildren; ‘adopted’ daughter Katheleen Talledge; ‘adopted’ son Tony Pedrosa, his wife, Darlene, and their children Ana, Victor, and Zoe, who invited her into their home and served as gracious and loving caregivers for nearly two years.
Marion embraced her godly heritage and often spoke of God’s enduring faithfulness. Psalm 78:4 was her admonition to the family - “We will tell the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His power and His wondrous works that He has done.” She leaves a legacy of faith, friendship, generosity, and love to all who were blessed to know her.
