The son of the late August and Anna Taeschner, Paul was born April 23, 1924 on Staten Island, NY.
He married Mary K. Breitenbach on October 6, 1945. Mary predeceased him on April 9, 2007. Paul retired from the Newburgh Post Office in 1983 and spent many years caring for his beloved Mary until her passing in 2007. He was a veteran of WWII and a long standing member of The American Legion Post 1420. He was also a charter member and past chief of the Winona Lake Fire Department. Paul enjoyed playing golf with his wife and son, often traveling to Myrtle Beach and Florida. He may very well be the only person to make a hole-in-one on the Newburgh Country Club’s 15th hole. Pop-Pop also enjoyed spending time visiting with his grandkids. He is survived by his children Paul Taeschner and his wife Jeanne of Canandaigua, NY; Mike Taeschner and his wife Carolyn of Watauga, TX; Annamarie Lowry of Hornell, NY; and Dan Taeschner and his wife Mary of Newburgh, NY; eight grandchildren Mark, Meg, Matt, Michele, Naomi, James, Adam, and Troy; and 10 great grandchildren, and his good buddy, Klondike. Cool Papa Paul would like to thank the staff at Promenade in New Windsor for the many good times spent there. His family would also like to thank the staff at CHRC for their care in his final days. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Winona Lake Fire Department, 160 South Plank Road, Newburgh, NY 12550.
