Philip Sawicki

Phil was born in Jersey City, NJ on December 19, 1950 to Francis Sawicki and Eleanor Darmolalska Sawicki. He graduated from Henry Synder High School in 1968.

Phil spent many years in the drug and alcohol treatment field assisting people with overcoming their chemical dependencies. He began a new career, in 1999, as a postal carrier in Monsey, NY. Phil served on the Homeowners Association Board where he lived and his outgoing and friendly personality made him well liked and trusted in all communities.

He enjoyed a challenge and was always there to help others when needed. He thought of himself, and often was, the ultimate Handyman; with some notable exceptions! His daughter Katlyn called him her “MacGyver.”

He is survived by loving wife Beth Lyons Sawicki; his loving children Gerard (Michelle) Sawicki of Highland Falls, NY and Katlyn (Burke) Hartfelder of Prairie du Sac, WI. Phil adored his grandchildren, Abigail and Brooke Sawicki and William Hartfelder IV. He is also survived by sister Joan Kennedy (Bill) and brother John Sawicki (Michelle.) Phil was predeceased by his parents and his sister-in-law, Meg Gilette. He will be missed by several nieces, extended family and many close friends.

Visitation will take place on Friday June 3, 2016 at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home located at 20 North street, Washingtonville, NY from 4pm – 9pm. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday June 4, 2016 at St. Paul’s R.C. Church 2800 NY-Rt. 17k, Bullville, NY 10915. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Washingtonville, NY.
