I was a classmate of Sal at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.  We are in the MBA program,  I recall studying with him and he would be smoking his pipe.  I am sorry to hear of Sal's early-in-life death.  He was a friendly man.  I visited his family home in South Ozone Park in 1979.  Wow, so close to JFK Airport!  I told another classmate from U of I, Christine Ehrke of Sal's passing on.

Sal was a gentle, respectable man who extended his kindness, knowledge, and love for teaching at the Washingtonville Middle School. He would politely greet me in the faculty room and hallways. I appreciated the time we spent sharing stories before school started. Sal will be greatly missed; may he rest in peace. Until we meet again, Sal!

Sal was such a kind and friendly gentleman.  I always saw him subbing in the Washingtonville Middle School when I worked there.  I am so sorry to hear of his passing.... He will be missed by all who knew him.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
