Salvatore Somma of New Windsor, NY passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025 at the age of 77. He was surrounded by his loving family as he entered into the arms of the Lord. He was born in Brooklyn on May 3rd, 1947 to the late Carlo and Carmela Somma.
It was in Brooklyn where he met the love of his life, Barbara (Farino) Somma. They were married in 1967 and began raising a beautiful family, first in Brooklyn and later in New Windsor, NY. He was a father to four children: Camille, Carl, Salvatore and Louise and her husband Jason. Also, he was a grandfather to seven grandchildren: Salvatore, Elena, Madelyne, Michael, Christian, Jason, and Camilla, and a great-grandfather to Gwendolyn. He is survived by his sister Olympia and her husband Frank, and his brother Charlie. He is preceded by his brother Ralph.
Salvatore was a good and virtuous man, radiating love and joy to everyone he met. He always had a good sense of humor, making us laugh in every conversation. Family was everything to him, and Sunday dinner was always the highlight of his week. We were always together for holidays and birthdays, which always brought a smile to his face. He was always there to help anyone in need, and would do anything for the ones he loved. He was our backbone and our strength, and he will be missed more than words can ever express.
Dad, we will love you always and forever.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 2-6pm at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 28th at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville. Cremation Services will be Private.
