Born to Opal and Thomas E. McCardle Sr., Tom was a man of quiet strength with a deeply kind heart. He was a proud veteran and served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a quality assurance engineer known for his skill and dedication in the aerospace industry. Later in life, he pursued his interests in precision machining and tooling; and often enjoyed walking at a local park admiring the craftsmanship and ingenuity built into a former powder mill site.
Above all else, Tom was a devoted family man. He found his greatest joy in raising his two sons, Thomas J. and James A. McCardle, and was a doting grandfather to his two grandchildren - Lydia and Jacob. He was also a beloved brother to his sister Judy Soliz and two brothers David M. and Dwight E. McCardle who survive him. His unwavering support and gentle spirit were the foundation of his family.
Tom’s contentment with life was evident to all who knew him; he was always ready to lend a helping hand and offered his kindness to everyone he met. He loved sports, and was actively engaged in playing, coaching or watching baseball and ice hockey. He will be dearly missed by all who were privileged enough to have known him.
