

Vincent Heinlein of Blooming Grove, NY entered into rest on September 15, 2014 at home. He was 96 years old. Vincent was born August 9, 1918 to Joseph A. and Anna C. (Petry) Heinlein in Brooklyn, NY. He was predeceased by his wife of forty seven years Margaret Durkin Heinlein. Vincent served in the US Navy and was a salesman in the garment industry. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of the American Legion of Wantagh, Cardinals Committee for the Laity, and Orange County Historical Society. He was a very patriotic American who loved hiking, biking, kayaking, and canoeing.
He is survived by his daughters, Margaret Heinlein Long. and her husband Bruce of Oxford, Maryland and Mary Jane Heinlein of Cortlandt Manor, NY; sons Robert V. Heinlein of Piscataway, NJ and Thomas V. Heinlein of Blooming Grove, NY; grandchildren, Lieutenant Commander Bradley D. Long and his wife Lindsay and Gregory M. Long and his wife Britt; great-grandchildren, Evan, Maddy and Ellie Long; sister, Charlotte Brereton of Glen Gardner, NJ as well as many nieces and nephews. Vincent was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph E., Anthony J., John A., and Francis G. Heinlein as well as his sisters, Edith de Guinzbourg, Anna H. Stanko, Rita Stack, Helen Leonard and Dorothy Heinlein. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 17 from 2-5pm at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, September 18, 10am at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville, NY. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Washingtonville, NY.
