Walt has been family to me for nearly 20 years. He treated me with kindness and because of him and Ida, I have the privilege of living in his home. It’s a special place, created by his parents. I walk among trees he planted as a young boy. We shared great stories and affection as the chosen families we make in this world often do. There was no greater fisherman! I am reeling at his loss tbe way he so often reeled in the beautiful fish he loved so much. Walter, thank you for loving us.

Walt (and Kevin) built the house in Mahwah that my family calls home. From the moment we saw it, we knew the labor of love that it was to whoever visioned and planned the property. Throughout the entire process, Walt was welcoming and answered all our questions and we fast became friends. Not sure of any other situation where a buyer and seller became friends but with Walt, it seemed he was a friend to all he knew. We are deeply saddened to hear of his passing and send all our sympathy to Ida, Robert, Dorothy & Kevin. We hope that you can find strength during this difficult time. Please know that the love Walt put into the dream home he built will not be lost as we continue to create lifelong memories there. Walt will always be remembered here.

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the Scheffler at this time of grief; I do feel your loss.
I considered Walt a very dear friend of mine. We met at Bullocks on the Miramichi and were friends from the first meeting; we had a number of common interests and spent as much time talking about the stock market, family and politics over a glass of red wine as we did fishing.
The attached photo shows us enjoying watching the salmon splash in home pool at Bullocks with Walt taking pictures. (summer of 2011)
Walt will be missed by many....he was a good man.

Sincere sympathy to Ida, Robert, Dorthy, Kevin and family. Have so many fond memories of the great times spent with Walt over the years. He was such a very special individual. He will be dearly missed. This was the last salmon he caught on the Miramichi. In Boiestown, NB. I had the pleasure and honour of netting it for him. It was a beautiful morning and a memory I will always remember.
