William J Varano

William J. Varano, also affectionately known to family and friends as Billy V and Tooter, passed away, after a short illness, on March 9, 2025 at the age of 74 years.

Billy was born on September 30, 1950 in Oneonta, NY, to the late William (Mack) and Rose Eleanor Varano.

He attended St. Peter’s School in Haverstraw, NY and was a graduate of North Rockland High School, Class of ‘69.

In his earlier years, he worked as a Supervisor at Coppers “Button Factory”, in West Haverstraw. He later went on to hone his construction skills working as a union carpenter, and finally as an independent contractor.

Billy was predeceased by his brother, Nick.

He is survived by his loving Wife of 15 years, Leny Varano, his two daughters and their spouses, Heather & Bob Jurgans, Walden, NY and Kimberly & Chris Haywood, Lynchburg, VA, two grandchildren, Jonathan and Jonna Jurgans, furbabies, Snookie and Snowie, sister Mary & Phil Billik, Cornwall, NY, sister-in-law Carol Varano, Georgia, several nieces and nephews, as well as his lifelong best friends, John Joe and Barbara O’Donnell and Kirsten, Tom and Brendan Elwood.

At Billy’s request, there will be no visitation. A Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 42 Goshen Avenue, Washingtonville, NY on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 10:30 A.M.

Cremation has been handled by David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, Washingtonville, NY.
