Anthony Marin

Winslow – Anthony J. Marin, 50, died Wednesday September 11th, 2013 at his home. Tony was born February 7, 1963, the youngest of Leonard and Cecile (Pelletier) Marin’s, nine children. He spent much of his childhood living in Clinton, mostly at the end of the True Road. He had the biggest heart since birth and loved everyone fairly without judgment, always giving, never asking anything in return.

Tony attended Clinton Elementary School, graduated from Lawrence High graduating in 1981 and continued his education in Calais earning his certification in plumbing. Tony worked for F.G. Thomas, Bob Plourde’s Plumbing and Heating, Noris Preble Company of Madison, Houle’s Plumbing and Heating and in September of 1991 found his niche in the industry. He began working at Colby College so that he could marry the love of his life, Patricia O’Keefe, in the Lorimer Chapel at Colby College, on March 7, 1992.

Colby College was a gift to Tony, from the love of the campus, the history of its origins, and what it stood for. In his years there, friendships of all sorts developed from his fellow employees to the students who either worked for him in the work study program. The athletes and families that became lifelong friends even flyinging him to Cleveland to plumb a building for one of the hockey players family.

Tony’s easy demeanor and ways opened doors others would not think of entering. His love of cooking, in the break room kitchen, made him “famous” for breakfasts and lunches, shared with anyone there. Tony was even known to take his own concoctions to “It’s a Good Pizza” to share with Justin. It was nothing for him to make coffee for Doug and the folks at Eustis Hall. Colby College was his family: Carol at the bookstore, Richard at Robert’s Hall, Mary at the post office. He always had an infectious laugh and stories to tell when he came home from work. Doing plumbing for Janice Kassman, rubbing elbows with Sue Cook at athletic events, banging his tin pail when the hockey team scored, no better fan was there than Tony.

The other love in his life was his girls. Tony became a step father to Carri for 30 years and her daughter Adeliaide. He was there for Michael and his children. Kristen, Broghan, and Reid and let’s not forget the great grandson Benjamin.

Tony is survived by his wife, friend, and soul mate Pat O’Keefe; his mother Cecile; brother Maynard, Bobby, Jerry, Lenny; sisters Lynn Sweet, Linda Bickford, Cindi Doirion, and Tammy Ciquera; his grandchildren Addi, Reid, Kristen, Broghan and Benjamin. For many nieces and nephews he was “Uncle T” he took many of them on vacation to Disney. He was predeceased by his father, grandparents and special nephew-son Nick. His cat Minnew, he leaves behind his pet cat Chloe, his grand-dogs Stella Luna and Bubba.

A special viewing will be held at the Veilleux Funeral Home 8 Elm St Waterville, ME on Wednesday September 18 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday September 19 at 11AM at The Lorimer Chapel at Colby College.
