WINSLOW – Christopher (Chris) William Langlais passed away on Sunday, February 8th, 2015, in Gallatin Tennessee. Chris is the son of Lennie and Cathy Langlais of Winslow and the brother and best friend of his sister Amanda.
Before attending school Chris became a pseudo member of Couture family when he and Amanda were watched and loved by Barb. Later he became a ‘son’ to Kate as she watched and loved both he and Amanda.
Christopher attended schools in Winslow, graduating in 2002. Chris enjoyed WHS and he spent many study halls sitting at Mr Lawrence’s desk while Lester was teaching.
Chris was a three sport athlete through high school playing Football, Hockey and Baseball. Chris was honored to play in two football state championship games achieving back to back wins in 2000 and 2001. He was privileged to have Jim Poulin as a coach. Coach “P” wouldn’t let Chris play on defense so when Hockey season came around he really enjoyed being able to ‘check’ his opponents. In Hockey he was part of the 2000 State championship game. Captain of all three teams his senior year Chris was honored as a scholar athlete. While Chris loved team sports he was passionate about golf. Chris had his first golf lesson at the age of two from his “Grampy”, they played golf together for many years.
Chris attended UMO for one year but found his place at Plymouth University, Plymouth NH. He graduated in 2006 earning a Bachelor’s degree in business and marketing. After college Chris drove south to Florida and spent a season as a caddy at a top golf course in Naples. He spent the following summer at a private golf course in Bristol VA where the very first team he caddied for was the Manning brothers. We enjoyed hearing about the people he caddied for.
Returning to Maine, Chris landed a job working for Idexx Laboratories. He started in Advanced Tech Support, moving to in-side sales, he moved to Nashville when he was promoted to outside-sales for the newly opened Idexx lab, eventually becoming a Digital Radiology Consultant covering much of the south east. He loved Nashville and made many friends. He loved golfing almost year-round, loved the people and all the things the city had to offer. On New Years Eve 2012 he met the love of his life, Molli Thornton. Within six months his southern bell moved from Mississippi to Nashville and they started their life together with their two French bulldogs, Francis and Chloe, commonly referred to as the “kids”. They were due to be married this coming April, an event we were all looking forward to.
He gave the biggest smile and the best hugs. We will forever miss these and all the conversations we had. Chris loves deeply and is deeply loved. I do wonder who won the first golf match, Chris or Grampy?
Chris was predeceased by his maternal grandfather William Paul Kick with whom he shared a special bond, his paternal grandparents Leonard A and Fleurette Langlais and his cousin Mathew Alun Williams.
Chris is survived by his parents, his sister Amanda, Victor, (his godson) Kobe and miracle baby Jordan Garay of Herman ME.; his loving fiancé Molli Thornton, grandmother Patricia Kick, Aunts Pamela Kick, Shelley Kick and Kimberly Kick, Aunt Muriel and Uncle Paul Campbell , his cousins Brenda King, John Williams, Chris and Aidan Connelly, Ryan Campbell (Alexis, Leo and Elle) and Caryn Campbell Lynch. Chris made friends easily. If you are a friend of Chris’s you have a friend for life. Special friends include Jason, Franz, Ricky and Jase as well as countless others. Please don’t forget he will be watching over all of us.
