Winslow; Colby Wayne Rockwell (67) - known by many as "Rocky" - passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Androscoggin Hospice House. Rocky was born September 29, 1946 as the oldest of Colby N. & Mary (Lindsey) Rockwell's five children.
He spent his childhood living in Fairfield, on the Davis Road. A graduate of Lawrence High School (1964), Rocky played football and was an active member of the track team. In 1965, less than a year after graduating, he enlisted in the US Army National Guard and served until 1971. Rocky later helped start PHB Supply with his good friend Jim Bickford and his brother, Jon (Bickford). In 1975, he began Pool Tech where he found great joy in helping others. No longer were customers just part of the business, those he served were friends & family. His uplifting spirit, kindhearted nature and easygoing attitude were priority in his personal & professional life. After selling the business - to his daughter (Jennifer) and son-in-law (Brian) - Rocky started a new career in Real Estate. He received his sales agent license and joined Coldwell Banker Plourde Real Estate, where again, his personality was well-admired & much-appreciated.
Another of Rocky's great qualities, was his ability to connect with others. He had a great appreciation for the game of golf - a hobby & pastime he enjoyed playing with friends. He especially liked teaching the game, too. He also much enjoyed time playing poker with, "the boys" and cards with family. If you were lucky enough to know Rocky, you never forgot him or his smile.
He was predeceased by his parents Colby & Mary Rockwell, along with his late wife, Linda. He is survived by his wife Debra and her sons: Derek & Darren Veilleux; his daughter Tammy Andrews and her husband, Chris (York, ME) and their children: Lily, Rose, Owen, Colby, Skylar & Bodie; his daughter Jennifer and her husband, Brian (Winslow, ME) and their children: Brooklyn & Nolan. Also, his twin sister Sharon McKechnie and her husband, Lester (Waterville, ME); his brother Phil (Fairfield, ME); sister Mary Lou (Oakland, ME) and his youngest sister Carolyn and husband, Don Bartley (St. Louis, MO); as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Hertler and his amazing team at the Harold Alfond Cancer Center for the care and compassion they showed Rocky. Also a special thank you to Androscoggin Hospice House staff and volunteers.
