Winslow – Grace I. Letourneau, 99, of Winslow, effortlessly passed from this life to the next after a long and happy life on Friday April 8, 2016 with family at her side. She was one of 17 children, 12 sons and 5 daughters, of Josephine (Loubier) and Jules Letourneau. She was educated in Waterville Catholic schools. Her entire life was devoted to serving God, the Catholic Church and her family.
Grace was a dignified woman in the truest sense of the word. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was warm and fun loving with others; she had a generous heart and a profound love of the poor. Her thoughtfulness and gratitude expressed itself warmly and poignantly in her cards and they were always eagerly anticipated, no matter the occasion. A card from Aunt Grace was always a treat.
Grace was a big fan of the Red Sox, the Patriots and the Bruins. She enjoyed quilting, hooking, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and Sudoku. Grace was appropriately named and will indeed be remembered with fondness and a smile for being such a genuine and lovely person.
She is survived by her sister Alice Taylor of Virginia; many nieces and nephews; as well as a large circle of friends.
Grace’s family would like to recognize the entire staff of Goudreau’s Retirement Inn for the outstanding care she received during her time there and the residents who became her dear friends – her “Goudreau’s family” – it is all gratefully appreciated.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday April 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 112 Silver Street, Waterville. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove Street, Waterville.
