Irene Marie Bourque

Irene was born in Waterville, August 21, 1925 a daughter of the late J. Aurele and Georgianna (Gouin) Bolduc. Irene Graduated from Waterville High School in 1943. Her first job was with Harris Bakery Co. She then worked in the personnel department of the Waterville Morning Sentinel for many years, retiring in 1990.

Irene met Royal Bourque and was married in 1948. They had a double wedding with her sister Pauline who married Robert Safarik. She and Royal enjoyed gardening and traveling to many of Maine’s Parks.

After Royal died her favorite trips were to Hawaii with her sister-in-law Charlotte Bolduc, and the bus trips to Radio City Music Hall, Christmas Show in New York City and Washington D.C., as well as many foliage trips.

Irene dearly loved her family and her many friends and her class reunions. She loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress, making many of her own clothes. After retiring she and Charlotte joined a group of quilting friends and spent many happy hours making quilts.

Irene was predeceased by her parents, her husband Royal Bourque, her brothers; Carl E. Bolduc, Eugene (Buck) Bolduc, her baby brother Bernard Bolduc, her sister Pauline Safarik , also her sister-in-law Eleanor Bolduc, her brother-in-law Robert Safarik and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Irene is survived by her nieces and nephews; Georgia Houle and husband John, Marsha Safarik and husband Barry Dessigner, Karen Witham and husband David and Sandra Bishop, Alan L. Bolduc and Carl E. Bolduc Jr. and wife Patricia. She also leaves ten grand nieces and nephews and eight great grand nieces and nephews as well as her sister-in-law Charlotte C. Bolduc and several cousins.
