Waterville – Jeanne D. Jacques, our beloved Mother and Grandmother passed away on April 24, her sister’s birthday. Angie came and brought her home with her, Jeanne was 91 years old. Mom was born in Waterville on March 20, 1930, the daughter of Wilbur and Euphemie (Rossignol) Labbe. She attended Mount Merici Academy for most of her school years and graduated from Waterville High School in 1948. Jeanne was employed in the office of Dr. Lucien Pellerin, our local dentist, as a bookkeeper, for W.T. Grants, and for over 20 years for Drs. Kenneth Sewall and Paul Jones. Mom’s final employment was as a receptionist for Parish of the Holy Spirit in Waterville. She was very active in her church, St. Francis de Sales, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. These ministries were very important to her.

Mom married our Dad and Grandad, Fernand J. Jacques in 1951 and was predeceased by him in May 1990. Mom always said that she was blessed with a wonderful, caring family. She leaves behind four sons and one daughter, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren: Her sons Paul Jacques; Brian Jacques; Reginald Jacques and his wife Janice of Waterville and their children Joseph and wife Tracy, and Joshua; Roger Jacques of Winslow and his children Justin and wife Tia, Michael and wife Gwen and their children Samuel and Benjamin, who because of Covid-19, Mom was never able to meet, hold, or hug him, which she would have loved to do. She is also survived by her daughter Janet and her husband Chris Weeks of Oakland and their children Christopher, and Amanda and her children Wyatt and Mikaela. Jeanne is also survived by her special sisters-in-law Lorraine Cook and Nancy Jacques, and her former brother-in=law Donald Shorty. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Besides being predeceased by her parents and husband, Mom lost her only sister and very best friend, Angela Shorty, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Germaine Jacques, brothers-in-law Florian Jacques and Harold Cook, and her longtime companion Jack Welch.

Our family would like to give our deepest thanks and appreciation to everyone at Northern Light Care Lakewood for special love and compassion that our Mother and Grandmother received while she was a resident there.

As per Mom’s directions, there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Silver Street in Waterville on Friday, April 30 at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Old Belgrade Road by her husband’s side. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Veilleux and Redington Funeral Home, www.veilleuxfuneralhome.com

Donations in Mom’s memory may be sent to the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, 101 Silver Street, Waterville ME 04901

My sympathies to the Jacque Family. Jeanne was such an awesome person, loved to visit with her and her sister. Always welcomed you into her home. When I'd visit she would always ask me about my sister & brother in law, he was always "Fudgy" to her. Know that you are all in my prayers. Jeanne will always be in my memories for ever. She is a peace.

I will miss Jeanne, my very special godmother, very much. She never missed any of the important events in my childhood.

When I would see her out, before she moved to Lakewood, she was always such a spitfire. I had never before seen someone her age with so much energy and enthusiasm!

I always got a huge hug whenever we would run into each other.

I will miss her greatly!

I am so sorry to hear of your family’s loss. I first met Jeanne through Angie who was a coworker and friend. It was so obvious that Jeanne and Angie were not just sisters but best friends. Jeanne always greeted you with a big smile and always willing to help anyone, but it was obvious that her family was most important to her. I have many memories of fun stories and laughs when we got together with Jeanne and Angie and I’m sure that they are together again. I hope that memories of your special times with Jeanne help get you through these difficult times.

My Aunt Jeanne was a very special lady. She and my mom raised 10 children. They were sisters, best friends, and most of all dedicated their lives to their families. As a child, her homemade pizzas excited all of us!! My Aunt always had words of wisdom to share with me. During my mom's later years, in her late 80s ma "tante" Jeanne, as we called her, was always there for her sister Angie.. doing my mom's laundry, running chores for her, etc. She was a beautiful and special lady. My prayers are with her family during this difficult time. Ma "tante" Jeanne.. please give mom a big hug and kiss from her children , as I am sure you are with her and pepe and meme in Heaven now.

To the family of Jeanne: I have so many memories of Jeanne! She was always so kind to me and always happy to see me! We worked together when she worked at Dr. Diehl's and Dr. Christu's! One day she invited all us girls over for Crepes that she made herself! I will miss her even though we hadn't seen each other for over a year! My heart goes out to you all and she will be missed!

Lots of hugs,
Becky Getchell
