Joseph R. LaFlamme

Waterville—Joseph Robert LaFlamme, 89 of Waterville, died February 13, 2013 at Goudreau’s Retirement Inn after a long illness. He was born in Lewiston on April 8, 1923, a son of Simeon and Anselma (Carrier) LaFlamme.

He attended Lewiston Schools, and learned Architectural Drafting by taking home study courses from Chicago Technical College. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Corp of Engineers in Europe.

Mr. LaFlamme was an Architectural Draftsman for over 48 years working for the following Architectural Firms: Stanley S. Merrill-Auburn, Robert E. Wright-Lewiston, Harriman Associates Inc.-Auburn and Wilbur R. Ingalls, Jr.-Portland.

While in Lewiston, he was a communicant of S.S. Peter and Paul Church. He moved to Portland in 1974. He became a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and in 1986 became a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of St. John the Baptist, American Legion Post #22, Catholic Golden Age, American Association of Retired Persons, a former associate member of the National and Maine Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Knights of Columbus Council #101.

His first wife Jeannette Parker LaFlamme died in August 1976 and his second wife Elaine died January 21, 2004.

Surviving are his two daughters Irma A. Daskoski and husband Vern and Louise A. Doolan and husband Harry W.; three grandsons, Wayne, Bobby and Kevin Doolan; and great grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Jordon, Benjamin and Brennah Doolan.

Visiting hours will be held 9 AM, Monday, February 18, 2013 at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street, Waterville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 AM at Notre Dame Church, Silver Street, Waterville. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston.
