

Waterville – On November 26, 2013, Karl Frederick Rancourt, who was 81 years old, passed away from this earthly life at the Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville, Maine. By his side until his last days, was his loving wife, Muriel Rancourt. Karl was a life- long resident of Winslow Maine, born on August 25, 1932 to the late Romeo and Delia (Poulin) Rancourt, also of Winslow, Maine. Karl was a corporal for the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1951, serving as a radio operator in post-World War II Germany; receiving and recording Morse code messages. Karl was also a life member of the Winslow VFW.
For most of his life, Karl worked as a mechanic for Silver Street Service and Dead River Company repairing diesel trucks as well as his specialty, boats and outboard motors. He was well known in the Waterville area as the “go-to guy” for Mercury marine engines. He operated his own outboard motor repair shop for many years before and after he retired from Dead River Company.
Karl is survived by his wife Muriel Rancourt, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Karl is also survived by his sister Valerie Page of Oxford, Connecticut, his daughter Sandra Rancourt of Parma, Michigan and her fiancé Virgil Stimer, his son Wayne Rancourt and his wife Benita of Liberty, Maine and his son Mark Rancourt and his wife Amanda of Benton, Maine.
Karl leaves behind six grandchildren; Todd Burbank and his wife Katie, Jeremy Burbank and his wife Lorelei, David Rancourt and his wife Sarah, Michael Rancourt and his wife Laura, Faith Rancourt and Aaron Rancourt. He also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren; Derek Burbank, Megan Burbank, Carissa Burbank, Chad Burbank, Kaleb Burbank, Alyssa Burbank, Isaac Burbank, Lauren Burbank, Elynn Burbank, and Jarod Burbank. Karl was predeceased by his brothers James Rancourt and Romeo Rancourt Jr.
The family of Karl Rancourt extends much heart-felt gratitude and appreciation to Dr. David Preston, his nurse Debbie and the entire staff of Mid-Maine Internal Medicine on the Garland Road in Winslow Maine. The family of Karl Rancourt also extends many thanks and appreciation to the staff of Lakewood Continuing Care Center for their love and compassionate support that Karl and his family received during his stay at the center.
There will be no public memorial services for Karl Rancourt but instead the immediate family will be sharing in a private service on December 3, 2014. For those who knew and loved Karl Rancourt and are interested in making a donation in his name, donations can be made to the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter in Waterville, Maine.
