Waterville - Martha Ann Fabian, 76, of Belgrade died peacefully Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Inland Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Rutland, Vermont on October 23, 1938, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Corcoran) Ryan. She was educated in Rutland schools and graduated from St. Regis College with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She worked for the Belgrade Central School for over 20 years as a Special Education Teacher retiring in 2006. Martha married Dr. Edward Joseph Fabian in 1958 and raised five loving children.
Martha was a devout Catholic and was a member of Corpus Christi Parish since she moved to the Belgrade Lakes area in 1983 from her home in Montpelier Vermont. She enjoyed golf, gardening, sporting events involving her children and grandchildren as well as cooking and spending time with her family. She was also a huge Red Sox fan.
Martha was predeceased by her parents and her husband. Surviving are four sons, Chuck Fabian and his wife Tina, Kevin Fabian and Cindy Locke, Chris Fabian and Angie Calvo, and EJ Fabian and his wife Bridget, and a daughter, Julie and her husband Mike Benecke; she is also survived by seven grandchildren, Chase and Codey Fabian, Emma Storm Fabian, Ted Fabian, Michael, Reilly and Brianne Benecke.
Visiting hours will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, February 26, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street in Waterville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, February 27 at Sacred Heart Church, 70 Pleasant Street Waterville. Spring interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade.
