

Pearl was born in St. Everest, P.Q. Canada on December 12, 1926 a daughter of the late Dominique and Eugenie (Ferland) Plante. She was 7 when her family moved to Waterville. She was educated at St. Francis Parochial School through the 8th gradeand graduated high school at the Ursuline Academy, Mt. Merci in 1946. On November 13, 1954, the happiest day of her life, she married Raymond “Bob” Vashon and together they made their home in Waterville.
Pearl worked as a bookkeeper throughout her life as places such as Emery Brown Department Stores, Wyandotte Worsted Woolen Company from 1952 – 1981 and retiring from the City of Waterville Public Works Department in 1991. She was a devout catholic and a member of Notre Dame Parish.
Despite her full work week, she would bake bread for the entire family every Saturday with a house full of nieces and nephews who she loved to spend the day at her home. Pearl enjoyed traveling with Bob to such destinations as Colorado to visit her brother John, a trip to Disney Land, Bahamas Cruise with family and a trip overseas to Britain to attend their nieces wedding.
Pearl is survived by her brother Joseph “John” Plante, sisters; Madeline Roy and Dolores “Carmel Pinnette, sisters-in-law; Carmen Plante, Lil Vashon and Jeanne Giguere, brothers-in law; Roy Vashon, and Reggie Vashon and many nieces and nephews.
Pearl was predeceased by her husband Bob and two brothers Germain and Rene.
Pearl’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Karen Colford, Kimberly Falk, Meals on Wheels and Health Reach Hospice for the wonderful care and support provided to Pearl.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 11Am at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Waterville followed by Committal prayers at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Pearl’s memory to Mount Merci School, 152 Western Avenue, Waterville, Maine 04901.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction and care of Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville.
