

1947-2017
Waterville- Reginald L. Fortin,70, passed away with his loved ones by his side on Thursday June 29, 2017 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 27, 1947, the son of the late Leonel J. and Andrea (Talbot) Fortin.
Reggie was educated in Winslow schools and graduated from Winslow High School in 1965. Upon graduation Reggie drove a school bus for the town of Winslow and he became involved in the family business alongside his parents, known at the time as Fortin’s Hardware. In 1981 Reggie and his younger brother Mike took over the business and continued to run their parent’s legacy to this day…now known as Fortin’s Home Furnishings.
He was a lifetime member of the Waterville Elks Club as well as a lifetime member of Le Club Calumet. He was also an active member of the Waterville Exchange Club faithfully attending weekly meetings for years.
Reggie is survived by his loving companion of 42 years, Shirley K. Littlefield of Benton and her four children. Jeff and Kathy B. Littlefield of Winslow; Katrina and Rodney Corson of Benton; Heidi and Daren White of Phillips; and Harrison and Kym P. Littlefield of Benton.
He is also survived by his two sisters; Nancy and her husband Jim Vanderveer of Winslow; Jeanne LaPlante and her partner Chuck Perkins of Waterville; and his brother Michael and his wife Jill of Winslow.
Reggie also leaves behind Shirley’s five grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by special friends: Bob Getchell, Larry Michaud, and his best friend Evert Fowle.
Along with his parents he was predeceased by his sister Louisette and her husband Robert Roy, and his brother in law Ron LaPlante.
The Fortin/Littlefield families wish to thank the staff at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta and Mount Saint Joseph in Waterville for the loving care given to Reggie during the final weeks of his life.
Funeral services are under the direction of Veilleux Funeral Home in Waterville. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 8, 2017 at 11:00 am at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, 26 Monument Street, Winslow. Burial will follow in Saint Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove Street, Waterville.
