

He was born in Milo, ME on August 28, 1947, a son of the late Merle & Jennie Lyford. Wayne graduated from Milo High School and later attended the University of Southern Maine. Wayne married his best friend Cindy Main on January 7, 1984. Wayne retired from New England Telephone, now Fairpoint, after 36 years of dedicated service.
He was a long time member of the Winslow Baptist Church and played a very active role there. Church & God were a big part of Wayne’s life.
His greatest enjoyment in life was his family. Wayne was very active in his children’s lives. He attended all of their events, from soccer and basketball games, gymnastics, dance recitals and much more. He was also there for his wife and children. Wayne also enjoyed family time with his brothers and sisters, playing cards with his brothers, and big family get togethers. Wayne was very much a hard worker and an extremely loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had strong values and great ethics which he has passed on to the very many people that he has touched throughout his life.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Cindy Lyford; his seven children, Josh Lyford and wife Denise of CA, Tho Fournier and husband David, Duy, Hanh, Jordan, Janelle and Tram Lyford; four grandchildren, Braeden, Tracey, CJ and Isabelle; his four sisters and four brothers; Roberta Thulin and husband Don, of VA, Bea Knowles and her husband Reggie, Peggy Valvo and her husband Bob of CT, Joyce Carlson, of MA, Ronnie Lyford and his wife Lottie, Stanley Lyford and wife Nadine, Dave Lyford and his wife Lettie, Jack Lyford and his wife Lynn; sister in-law Connie Lyford; as well as many special nieces and nephews, and especially his niece who was like a sister, Laurel. Also surviving him are his mother in-law and father in-law Barbara and Richard Maschino and many other special in-laws and close friends.
He was predeceased by his brothers Austin and Donald.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 PM on Friday, April 9, 2010 at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street, Waterville. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 10 at the Winslow Baptist Church .
