Ed was a graduate of Hornell High School Class of 1969. He had married Jeanette E. Lamphier on July 19th, 1969 in Hornell, NY. He had worked for the Steuben County Highway Dept. for many years as well as for Walmart Tire & Lube, and Tom Mason Used Cars. Ed was a past Boy Scout Leader and with his love of baseball he use to coach Tee ball and Little League. In his current years he enjoyed donating his time to the Salvation Army in Hornell. While Ed had many numerous other career endeavors, his dearest endeavor was being a role model to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ed is survived by his loving family including wife, Jeanette E. (Lamphier) Miles; daughter Patricia (Garth) McKee; sons Edwin (Jamie) Miles Jr. and Donald (Vicky) Miles; twenty one grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sisters Darlene Brace and Donna (Clancy) Coons; brothers Terry (Kay) Miles, Gary (Becky) Miles, Steve (Kim) Hill, Bruce (Jennifer) Hill, and Gale (Peggy) Miles; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his mother Ruth Hill; step father Ed Hill and father Gale Miles Sr. and brother Dennis Ricky Miles.
Friends and family may gather at Living Waters Church, Hornell, NY on Friday, October 26th, 2018 from 2pm to 3pm where a funeral service to celebrate his life will follow at 3pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Ed’s memory to the Dialysis Center at Fresenius Kidney Care, 1 Bethesda Dr., Hornell, NY 14843, National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016 or the charity of one’s choice.
