She was predeceased by her husband, William “Captain Bill” Simiele; brother, James Roccisano of Brooklyn; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joseph Paradiso of S. Chicago Heights. Julia is survived by children, Gina (Dan) Backer of Florida and Mark (Michelle) Simiele of Watkins Glen; grandchildren, Jacqueline (Mike) St. Germain, William, Antonio and Christopher Simiele, Alexis and Mariah Gonzalez and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Yolanda, Anna, and Jennie Roccisano; sister-in-law, Carmela Simiele; several nieces and nephews-special thanks to Karen and David Palma, Mary Pat and Joe Zagone, and Phil Simiele for all of their help during her illness.
She was also blessed with several good friends who visited her often during her illness: Anna Jean DeDominicis, Mary Cook , Peggy Field, and Angie Morelli . The family would like to thank Dr. Saks, Amanda Kinsman and the very attentive and caring staff at Schuyler Hospital for their extreme kindness during her long hospital stay. Also a special thanks to these wonderful ladies who enabled her to live at home: Lori Stone, Sandy Dykshorn, Christie Standish, Jackie Bowen, Janice Potter and Kelly Hoyt. Julia was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church.
Per her wishes, there will be no prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at 11am at St. Mary’s Of the Lake Church, 905 Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a contribution to the Humane Society of Schuyler County, PO Box 427, Montour Falls, NY 14865.
