Rosanne M. Doane

October 28, 1948April 28, 2016

Rosanne M. Doane, 67, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY on Thursday, April 28, 2016.

Rosanne was born in Montour Falls, NY on October 28, 1948, the daughter of the late Frank E. and Nicolina E. (Franzese) Biagetti. She is survived by two sons, Adam (Casey) Doane and Anthony Doane of Watkins Glen, NY; brother, Carl (Ellen Siskind) Biagetti of Silver Spring, MD; sister, Lida (Michael) Riedlinger of Pittsford, NY; two grandchildren, Jordan and Michael Doane of Watkins Glen, NY; niece and nephews, Clara and William Riedlinger of Pittsford, NY, Michael Biagetti of Silver Spring, MD and Samuel Biagetti of New York, NY; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of friends.

Rosanne was a graduate of SUNY Cortland. From there, she went on to teach English at Moravia High School, followed by a twenty-five-year banking career that ended upon her retirement from HSBC. In 2002, she began work at the Watkins Glen Central School District as Registrar and Deputy Treasurer. She was an active member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church, and for many years, the Chamber of Commerce, and BPW, during which time she was awarded Business Woman of the Year.

Rosanne loved living on the lake and spending time with family and friends. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan, not only when it came to their sports, but in every aspect of their lives. She was a famously avid Yankee fan as well as an earnest Syracuse rooter, both interests igniting her competitive success at Tuesday night trivia and Wednesday night bowling. These longstanding activities fostered many lasting friendships.

Rosanne, Rosie, Roxy – no matter what name you knew her by – you knew a woman who had a heart of gold and a genuine love of people. Never hesitating to lend a helping hand, make a friendly phone call, or give you a warm hug, she would do anything to bring a smile to your face. Our world was a little brighter because Rosanne was a part of lives.

Friends and family may call from 5 pm to 8 pm on Monday, May 2nd at Haughey Wood Funeral home, Watkins Glen, NY 14891. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, 905 Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY on Tuesday, May 3 at 10 am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Watkins Glen, NY.

Our love to you all. Robin and I were so saddened to hear this news. Rosie was a spark in our lives, always loved to come to gigs, and could always make our day brighter. She will be missed very deeply, even while we drive by on the boat and would see her wave from afar. RIP Rosie
